2018 AWCON Draw: Super Falcons In Group B

After winning eight out of the past ten editions, the defending champions Super Falcons will kick off their 2018  AWCON, against South Africa on November 18 in Cape Coast after they were drawn in Group B which has Kenya and Zambia ahead of the forthcoming 11th Total Women’s Africa Cup of Nation in Ghana.

Hosting for the first time the Black Queens of Ghana seeded in Group A will battle the last edition host Cameroon in Accra, Mali and Algeria are also in the same group.

The tournament will kick off from from the 17th November to the 1st December 2018 and it will be hosted in two cities, Accra and the Cape Coast and it will serve as the African qualifiers for the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup in France.

The top three teams will qualify for the group stages of the competition in France next year.

Meanwhile Super Falcons’ coach, Thomas Dennerby said that he will name his final squad for next month’s Africa Women Cup of Nations on November 1st, he released a 48 player provisional list of players to camp in lagos last week Monday, as preparations for Ghana 2018.
