Enugu host Blind football tournament

The first-ever blind football tournament in Nigeria kicked off in Enugu on Tuesday under the sponsorship of Bina Foundation Enugu.

Participating clubs were drawn from blind football clubs in the five states of the South East geopolitical zone of the country.

Namely; Lions Blind Football Club of Enugu, All Stars Blind Football Club of Anambra, Stallion Blind Football Club of Imo, Tigers Blind Football Club of Abia, Golden Boys Blind Football Club of Ebonyi, Sunshine Ladies’ Blind Football Club of Enugu, and Diamond Football Club of Anambra.
In the opening match at Union Secondary School Awkunanaw, Enugu, Lions Blind Football Club of Enugu drew 1-1 with All Stars Blind Football Club of Anambra.

Ifeoma Atuegwu, President and Founder of Bina Foundation for People with Special Needs, said the Foundation was motivated to sponsor the tournament by her desire to promote, develop and sustain Disability Sports in Nigeria.
