Troops of the Operation Harbin Kunama of one Division Kaduna of the Nigerian Army, have killed 24 suspected bandits in Kaduna, Kano and Niger States and arrested 61 others during operation.

The General Officer Commanding 1 mechanised Division, Major General Faruk Yahya said this during a press briefing at the Headquarters of the Division, on Wednesday in Kaduna.

According to him, 20 kidnapped victims were also rescued from the kidnappers’ den and reunited with their families during the operation.

Speaking further, he explained that the incessant kidnappings, armed banditry, and other criminal activities that bedeviled the North West region of the country necessitated the activation of Exercise Harbin Kunama (III) by the Chief of army staff, Lt-Gen Tukur Buratai on April 1, 2019.

He, however, called on the public to avail the troops with credible and timely information instead of only reporting when bandits and criminals have inflicted their victims and fled.
