NBC SUSPENDS TELEVISION STATION OVER IPOB LEADER’S INTERVIEW

National Broadcasting Commission, NBC has suspended a Television station with a fine of 5 million naira for breaching the broadcast code.

In a press statement signed by the Acting Director-General of the Commission, NBC, Prof. ARMSTRONG IDACHABA, he accused the station of allowing the guest speaker of allegedly make derogatory and misleading statements about the Nigerian Army, despite being proscribed by a court of law.

He said the TV station allowed a leader of the Indigenous people of Biafra (IPOB) to make secessionist and inciting declarations on the air without being cautioned or reprimanded by the station which is contrary to the broadcast code.

The suspension is coming on the heel of a TV interviewed granted a supposed leader of the indigenous people of Biafra (IPOB) during her 7 pm live broadcast program on Sunday.
